    MAGELLAN LEARNING CENTER COORDINATOR

     Reports to: Program Head

     Close interactions with the following processes: Residential Homes, Educational consultant

    1) General Function:

    The Magellan Learning Center Coordinator provides leadership to the team of the center. He/she manages the human resources, the technical resources, the data and the cash. He/she has to insure that the different program components designed are well implemented. He/she responsible for the coordination of the children’s follow-up.

    2) Key Task and Responsibilities:

    A. Center management

    1. Technical resources management
    a. Supervise the facilities maintenance
    b. Supervise the computer network maintenance
    c. Organize every semester inventories of the program supplies and books

    2. Human resources management
    a. Coordinate with the VFI HRD for the recruitment of volunteers
    b. Give orientation on the program to all new staff or volunteers working in Magellan
    c. Coordinate and facilitate the weekly and monthly meetings with the teachers / facilitators
    d. Manage a team composed of different nationalities

    3. Data management
    a. Be responsible for the knowledge management for the non-formal education data in VFI (Alternative Learning System, Alternative Education, Computer trainings, Parents effectiveness trainings, Teachers & Facilitators’ trainings…)
    b. Organize and update the data about children (progress report card, individual monitoring cards, attendance…)

    4. Finances
    a. Be in charge of the cash management
    b. Regularly inform the Program Head about the financial situation of the center

    B. Program Implementation

    1. Organizing
    a. Organize the monthly outing
    b. Prepare a schedule for the facilitators and the beneficiaries

    2. Facilitating
    a. Replace the absent teachers and/or facilitators according to his/her availability (basic computer courses)

    3. Implementing
    a. Ensure the educational methodology is well implemented in collaboration with the education consultant
    b. Ensure the policies are well implemented

    4. Coordinating the children’s follow-up
    a. Keep himself regularly informed about the improvement or difficulties of the children through meeting at least once a week the team of teachers and facilitators
    b. Be the reference person between the center and the residential homes. If a problem occurs with a child, he is the one who will discuss with the social worker
    c. Inform the social worker about the progress and the attendance of the child (at least once a week)
    d. Coordinate and facilitate the quarterly feed-back to the social worker about the children

    5. Reporting
    a. Report orally about the weekly activities of the center to the Program Head
    b. Submit monthly reports of accomplishment to the Program Head.

    3) Qualifications

    Education
    • Development and/or Management Degree

    Work Experience
    • Experience in Education and Animation with children
    • Minimum two years experience in Project Management

    Competencies Required
    • Strong oral and written communication skills in English, should make effort to learn Tagalog
    • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills
    • Self/motivated, remain flexible (should be ready to work during Saturdays) and adjust to priorities
    • Computer literate (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
    • Excellent judgment and discernment skills, maturity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality of the children’s records
    • Sensitivity to street children issues and commitment to poor and disadvantaged people
    • Patient
    • Open-minded
    • Ability to manage a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team

    4) Schedule

    Office Hours from 8-5PM (Extra hours, included Saturday mornings are often required)

    5) Contract

    • Category : Volunteer – VSI
    • Duration : 1 year minimum
    • Allowance: to be defined
    • Other:
    - accommodated one month in a residential home, then in volunteers’ house
    - lunch provided by the Foundation

    Job Description

    Assistant Nurse for RAC Beneficiaries (ANRAC)

     Reports to: Project Coordinator

    1) General Function

    The volunteer will be in charge of the clinic’s co-management in collaboration with the nurse of the foundation (responsible for medical service) and the volunteering doctors.

    2) Key Task and Responsibilities:

    ● work with the foundation’s medical team
    • assure daily care for RAC beneficiaries
    • make all processes with the RAC’s staff regarding emergencies or alarmist cases
    • update the tools available for the medical team

    3) Qualifications

    Education:

    ● Degree in nurse or equivalent working experience

    Work Experience:

    • Experience with populations in situation of exclusion.
    • Experience in medical field or animation ( considering health )

    Competencies required:

    • Relational skills and teamwork ability
    • Motivated in learning the local language
    • Able to evolve in a difficult context
    • Autonomous
    • Rigorous in work
    • Good listening skill, adaptation, patience, negociative and diplomatic skills
    • Ability to use collected information Good knowledge of English
    • Redaction of synthetic notes and activity reports

    4) Contract

    • Category : Volunteer
    • Schedule: Full Time
    • Duration : 3 months minimum with one month overlap
    • Transportation fees: refunded
    • Lunch expenses: refunded for full days at work

    5) Additional Information

    Since January 2006, a partnership between Virlanie foundation and Manila City is getting official and our intervention is getting stronger. Depending on profiles and skills or middle/long term volunteers, the upcoming missions will be based on animation missions, and action about the institutional network, internal formations, research…

    This experience can be part of a scholar / university study (development, humanitarian action, sociology, ethnology…) or a social school study (specialized educator, social worker … ).

    Depuis 1967, année de sa création, la Guilde Européenne du Raid accompagne les initiatives individuelles et associatives faisant appel à l’esprit d’aventure et de solidarité envers les pays du Sud et de l’Est.

    Elle se définit par :

    * Une dynamique culturelle

    Le programme Missions de France a pour but de répondre aux besoins de ses partenaires locaux en leur envoyant tous les ans près de 500 bénévoles dans plus de 30 pays pour des missions de soutien en animation auprès d’enfants en difficultés scolaires ou sociales, cours de français, sauvegarde du patrimoine, missions médicales.
    Les bénévoles choisis sont des jeunes de 18 à 30 ans sont formés pour leur départ. Ils partent en équipe en juin, juillet, août et/ou septembre pour des durées d’un mois minimum.
    La coordinatrice du programme gère aussi toute la partie logistique de ces départs : assurance, organisation, contacts partenaires et billets d’avions.

    Contenu du stage

    Son rôle est de renforcer les outils de communication auprès des bénévoles, d’assurer un suivi quotidien des volontaires.

    Missions opérationnelles:
    - Soutenir la coordinatrice dans le suivi des bénévoles, la préparation des bénévoles à leur mission. (En fonction de la motivation et de l’investissement du candidat, il est envisageable de lui donner la responsabilité complète de certaines missions)
    - Rédiger et actualiser tous les documents méthodologiques relatifs au départ des bénévoles : fiches techniques,fiches pays, correspondances bénévoles, …
    - Création, suivi et actualisation quotidienne du Blog du Programme
    - Gestion de la base de données Bénévoles 2007 en coordination avec les responsables
    - Animation du forum de discussion des bénévoles
    - Très bonnes capacités de communication et aimant relayer l’information
    - Bon esprit de synthèse
    - Qualités rédactionnelles
    - Sens du relationnel au sein de petites structures
    - Sensibilité au milieu associatif et plus spécifiquement au milieu de la solidarité internationale
    - Débrouillard et autonome, bon esprit pratique
    - Esprit d’équipe et humour
    - Maîtrise des outils informatiques
    - Une expérience de terrain serait un plus
